Remote, rugged and extremely diverse. Volcanoes, the "American Alps" (north cascades), tons of wildlife (grizzly, wolf, brown bear, mountain lions, cougars, eagles...) few people despite being so close to Seattle/Portland. Mt Rainier, Mt St Helens, Mt Baker...the list goes on and on.
